The human who's name is written in this note shall die. this note will not take effect unless the writer has the person's face in their mind when writing his/her name so people sharing the same name will not be affected. Once a name is written, details of the death should be written within 6 minutes and 40 seconds. If no cause of death is specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.Light became more and more enthralled by this note book and just had to test it. On the news there was a school kidnapping. The man's name was Kurou Otoharada. Light thought he would make a fitting test subject so he wrote down the name. He waited a minute. Nothing happened, so he moves to turn off the TV but finds the hostages swarming out of the school unharmed. Police stated that the hostages said he just collapsed and died. Light was caught off guard. Had he really KILLED someone? He had to test it one more time just to make sure so, the next day, Light took a walk. He knew it was too dangerous to just carry the death note around so he simply brought a single page kept folded up inside his wallet. He saw a young girl being harassed by a Takuo Shibuimaru and decided o walk in the nearby store, acting as if he were looking through one of the quiz books in the store's window section and took out the page. Unsure of how the name was spelled, Light wrote the name with various spellings and specified cause of death then watched what happened. The girl escaped, Takuo followed after her on his bike but was hit by an oncoming truck. Takuo immediately died of accidental death. Light knew now. This note book was real. With it's power he could change the world for the better. The perfect world he has always dreamed of. In which, he will rule as a god.

The Death Note is discovered by Light, and Ryuk follows him into the real world. After many tests done by Light Yagami he soon realized that the Death note was for real and that he could only see Ryuk. History: L is quite secretive and only communicates with the world through his assistant Watari. He never shows his face to the world, instead representing himself with a capital L in Old English Five or Cloister Black. After meeting the Kira investigation team, he requests that the task force refer to him as Ryuzaki for discretion. The Kira investigation team never learns his true name. Ohba said that L is the smartest character in the manga because "the plot requires it." Ohba also said that he personally views L as "slightly evil."
L's disheveled and languid appearance masks his great powers of deduction and insight. He tends to second-guess everything he is presented with, and is extremely meticulous and analytical. He has several quirks such as preferring to crouch rather than sit, eating only sweet foods like desserts and fruits, and holding items very delicately. L stayed in England for five years, and during that time he was the champion in tennis for the England Junior Cup. L also secretly assumes the identities of the world's second and third best detectives, (Eraldo Coil and Deneuve respectively). He is currently taking on the Kira Case.

History: Near works for the United States under the SPK team that is established to investigate Kira. He soon manages to deduce that Light Yagami, posing as L, actually is Kira. After finding that Mikami is Light's proxy and after Mello kidnaps Takada (which reveals Light's deception of having Mikami use a fake Death Note to lead Near on), Near is able to switch the real Death Note with his own fake version, allowing him to set up a final confrontation which leaves Light exposed.

Near claims neither he nor Mello of could surpass L alone, but together they have done so inadvertently by working together. Near soon takes on L's name and keeps on the surviving members of the SPK as his subordinates.

In the one-shot taking place after the series, Near is shown as the new L. A new Kira emerges who has gained a Death Note from the shinigami Meadra (Midori in Viz's translation of Death Note: How To Read 13), who had received the additional Death Note from the Shinigami King by giving him 13 apples she had taken from the human world. The new Kira murders elderly people in Japan to "relieve their pain." When Near's SPK subordinates ask him why he isn't taking any action, he replies that he is trying to think what would of the previous L would do. He finally reaches a conclusion that the prevailing Kira was just a killer without a purpose, and he labels the killer as "C-Kira" for "Cheap Kira." He announces on national television, under the alias of "L," that he is not interested in this case and that he also has deduced that this Kira is not the real Kira but only an "abominable murder." This results in C-Kira committing suicide. Throughout the 40-page manga chapter, the identity of the new Kira is not revealed.

Immediately after moving in, he was forced to share a room with a blonde boy named Mello. He hated it and he began to isolate himself with his video games. He was then forced to talk to the boy and then they began their friendship. They had a brotherly bond and he and Mello were inseperable. To him Mello was his family member, till he met his girl.
At the age of seven, he first saw Carys McCartney. She was this little spunky girl who was always with this stupid short girl named Angel.

He finally got the courage to ask her at age 13. Once they got together he was in the world of happiness. He loved her but then again he would never confess it, so he showed them through his actions. After they turned seventeen he finally admitted it. He then asked her to run away with him and they did with the promise ring he gave her. They both fled Wammy's, taking after Mello and leaving Angel behind.On the road, they travelled far and wide, searching for Mello, they gave up for a while and lived in an apartment together, still searching for him, whilst Carys trained to be a chef in a local restaurant, which she actually loved and Matt worked on his hacking for whoever paid the right price. Then, after pinpointing Mello in two years , they left and headed to the USA, to join the Mafia.

History: Growing up, Sazandora had a more or less normal childhood. His grades were pretty average apart from excelling in physics later on in his school life. Not that he wasn't smart or anything, more he just didn't care. He would rather cause trouble for other people while staying in the background never being blamed for anything. He would manipulate others and lie with ease so he would gain and they would lose. He had no sympathy and just didn't care for anybody. Over the years he became better and better at this but he started getting bored. Bored of how easy it was to manipulate others just for the sake of it. He needed a goal. He didn't want to go to university but it beat getting a job. While at university he learnt all about wiring, switches, motion detectors and he learnt how to do all sorts of things with simply connecting things up and wireless programming. One day Saz was watching the sunset alone at the beach thinking his life through when a beautiful white bird landed on his shoulder. Saz looked at the bird and back to the sunset. "You wanna chill with me? Well I'll call you sunset, quite fitting don't you think?" After that day Sunset followed Saz everywhere and would wait outside of school and then later on university every day until Saz came out. Saz couldn't care less about anybody in the world, Sunset was the only thing he cared about. So a 19 year old sociopath, living at home with his mum needed something to do with his life. He then heard about Kira and after a week of the name Kira being first announced the whole world new the name of Kira. Saz then talked to people around the world on anonymous chat rooms about Kira, reading other peoples theories about Kira's method for killing and where people thought Kira could be and who he was. It was amazing at how much knowledge he could gain just by listening to other people. It seemed most likely for Kira to be in the region of Japan that he was in. There were all sorts of theories about who Kira was but the one that intrigued him was the one that he could be a student. Maybe he went to the same university as Saz. It was a long shot but it was a good place to start. He decided to seek out Kira and hope to learn more information about him and his killing method as he went on in his search. Sazandora wasn't even sure about what he wanted to do if he found Kira but at least he knew it wouldn't be easy... for once.

Personality: Almost like her distant radiative, though Glacies is a more serious person in all certain ways. Despite her innocent, and younger teenage appearance. She tends to look over certain items, especially if it deals with murders. She tries to look for a clear, and understand motive, and will look for any reasonable doubt for the person who may be trailed for something as such. At times though, she is laid back as her cousin, and can also make smartass remarks that barely in the trouble, unless it's something way bad.

History: Jun Kuzomo had been born in Rome, as her mother had given birth a full month earlier than expected. Her father, and newly adoptive son, and now brother were happy, but all well too surprised with the blessing that they had been given. Mrs. Amoe was expecting twins. Although, Jun was officially born, while her thought to be sister was Stillborn. Mrs and Mr. Kuzomo were depressed, and nearly lost it when they found out their only other daughter was stillborn.

The family hadn't allowed their daughter buried in Rome, instead they took a long air trip back to Japan, where she would be buried along family members that had died recently. Although, it's noted that Jun was born with strange almost pulsing crimson eyes. As growing up as a child of a kind family - Jun kept it to herself as she was able to see a creature of sorts wandering around the city that they were living in.

A creature wearing a black hooded cloak and carrying a red Scythe. Jun at a young age called this Shi. Although, as she got older, Jun soon forgot about the strange creature as she was focusing on school work, less than her personal life. They said Jun was a very promising student - although they said she was rather serious staying in the grade level that she always was in. Saying it wasn't fair to the other students.

Jun was close to her adopted brother, Cecil, who too was protective over his Onee-chan. Sometimes their parents see the two of them trying to figure out the others homework, as both were born with mature minds and tend to look over causes and their effects. This 'ability' as some would say, became a very big role when the two of them heard first about the strange person named, Kira.

Jun had said it was something along the line that this person had to have a motive in order to do what they were doing. Cecil disagreed slightly, saying that the person may just be mental and didn't understand what he, or she was doing. Jun had then listened more and more to the news, to the radio as Cecil would be figuring things would from Word of Mouth.

Kira had hit close to home when 'He' as Jun stated due to her noticing that he was killing mainly the male population of criminals. He had attacked a newly discharged man from prison who had gotten over what he had done. This man become friends slightly with the Kuzomo Family. Jun for the first time in over many years saw the hooded figure. He stood near the dead body that was found.

She stared at it until it noticed that she was there. She told the creature it was Kira who was doing this, that man shouldn've had died. The creature 'hissed' back saying that this person was taking away his Job, the reason why Death is always there and never disappears. Death told Jun that he and the Shinigami had an agreement, and that agreement didn't involve Humans who killed.

The red eyed female figured that Shi was questioning her to try to figure out who the one was killing these people. When Jun found out her distant family member who only went by the name of Zurui was part of a special group who wanted to catch Kira. She immediately spoke with her cousin about this.

Zurui seemed hesitant about getting her cousin, Jun, involved with something like this. Although, both women figured something out. That Jun would have to get her name Officially changed in order to confuse Kira. Zurui had met with her cousin for the first time as they went and got her name changed to Glacies, but yet continued to use the name Jun Kuzomo. Now going by the name Glacies - Zurui had gotten her into the group secretly known as SPK.

People tend to confuse Glacies' speech to her cousin's Zurui. Even though that both of them have different hair style, different backgrounds. The only connection would be their unique eye colour. Glacies had Zurui teach her how to hack into heavy computers that had high firewall, due to that they may need to search police files that they wouldn't give up to help the case. In order to further her own small investigation was by becoming a Translator. Able to translate between Japanese, English and very small parts of Spanish.

Born in Tokyo Hotaru Katsumi was a child protégé. At the age of 8 she had finished elementary school and took a short break to study around the world before attending high school at age 12. While she was gone a man broke into her home and killed her father (an officer of the law) and mother (A research scientist). Upon hearing the news she returned to Japan, once she finished grieving for her dead family she returned to school in memory of her lose.

At the age of 14 shortly after her parents were killed Hotaru Katsumi graduated from high school. She was pushed forward into university where she got her PhD in Diagnostics and Physiology. At the age of 18 she became the youngest doctor at Tokyo General. Recently she has been employed by the police to examine the killings of Kira and what ever else she can do to help them in her investigation. Still working at the hospital she fills her empty life with work. Never having much of a child hood nor a proper family Katsumi is a workaholic never being able to shut off her mind.

Personality: Klyde can appear to be cold and anti social, but he will tolerate working with other people if it will help move something forward. He usulley keeps his opinions to himself and he very rarly talks unless its to give information. But once you work with him for a while you see that he does talk to people when he feels like it, and will crack a joke now and then regardless.When it comes to solving cases he is a bright person who always looks at every different side of the case. He tends to look at a case with different ideas then others because as he says the most unorhadox methods can be the most logical. He does tend to lose his edge and thinking ability when a case hits a dead end, he takes nothing less then 100% right on through. No mistakes. It is this fault that has led him to be overlooked as a succeser to ~L~ who keeps his cool. Regardless he was one of the top students at Wammy's house and will keep on a case to the end. When he started school he was known for his quick learning and his tendency to keep away from other children. This was due to his isolated upbrning. Having no siblings and paretns who were always gone he had lacked the motvation to be social his parents though never around pushed and pressured him to study and be smarter. When he finished elementry school at age 8. Set to continue into middle school with great prospects his dreams were cut short when he paretns, coming home froma long buisness trip died in a car crash. With no reletives to look after him (his grandparents had died a year before) he was sent to an orpanage. He stayed there for two years until he was found by the founder of Wammy's house Quillsh Wammy who was looking for gifted children. Seening the intellect in the boy he took him to Wammy's house where he spent his remaining child years. While there, like many others he found ~L~ to be his mentor. Also like the others he gave himself an alies. Now going by Klyde he kept studying and developed his tendency to look at things from a much different perspective then others.Because of his harsh upbringing he developed an anti social attitude. Because this effected his thinking abilitys, even though he was one of the top children considered to be ~L~'s successor his prone to frusteration at hitting dead ends kept him from being one of the first to be picked as such. When he turned 17 he left Wammy's house to pursue the dream of being a detective. He began resrching the Kira case which ~L~ was working on and he decided to help ~L~ work on it.

History

Before entering Wammy's house at the age of 7,Kohr lived in luxury in Canada. Her father had been a successful businessman who had owned various companies. Her mother had been a successful stock broker.The family had lived in a mansion on a large plot of land. Kohr had been isolated from much contact from other children.
At a young age, she had discovered her talent in the visual arts. Her parents, however,were not pleased and wanted her to pursue something other than an artistic field.
Kohr nevertheless continued to hone her art skills.
While on a cruise one night, the boat capsized and Kohr's parents died.She was thus sent to Wammy's. Watari had been a good friend of the family.Kohr's father had known him by helping him to get his inventions pattened and sold. It was there that Kohr had been given her current identity and met L and O.
After inheriting her parents inheritance at 18,Kohr left the Wammy house and resided in the country in her parent's vacation home in Japan.
As a child, Kohr had been diagnosed with autism.Years later,it was confirmed that she instead had asperger's.Some of the afflictions of the condition isolated her from her peers and caused her to become an outcast.

Kohr does not work with many people due to shyness and poor social skills.
