Carys' home.

"Oh, excuse me, whilst I get that," she blinked, not used to so many guests at once. When she opened the door, she stared "Uh....hello, you."

"It's umm...been...a while." She muttered not knowing what to say, whilst trying to obscure Matt's view of Light "...Sup?"

Light glanced over toward the door curiously.

He looked her over, a slight grin appearing on his face.
"No hug? I'm hurt." he pouted, taking an opportunity to try and look around her to the interior of the building. "What are ya hiding? Is that idiot cop in there again?"

Carys facepalmed and sighed, awkwardly giving her...well...ex, a hug.

"No, Matsuda's not here. We broke up not so long ago." she rolled her eyes at his grin "My neighbour came over. I'm about to make some tea, if you're coming in?"

She shot an apologetic look back at Light. She certainly had not expected Matt to show up.

Matt gripped Carys tight with his free arm, not taking a wimpy hug as satisfactory.
"Surprising, but sure, I could use a drink." he grinned and continued. "Besides, I've got to hear about him crying his eyes out when you dropped him."

Light nodded at Carys, signalling that it was ok. He gave a small smile. I wonder who he is...could he be linked to this whole thing too..? huh...guess I'll have to get to know them both more...

"Alright then, when you're quite done crushing me, you can come in, and if you must know, he dumped me," she shook her head "Light, this is my....on and off boyfriend, Matt. Matty, this is my neighbour, Light. Talk or something whilst I make the tea, and Matt, be nice or I'll call Matsuda to kick your ass."

Carys headed into the kitchen, deliberately taking her time so she could listen to them.

Light chuckled. "I'm sure that won't be necessary. In any case, it's nice to meet you, Matt."He said with a smile, while holding out a hand in greeting.

Matt scoffed upon hearing that it had been the other way around with the Matusda/Carys break up. "He doesn't know what he's missing; I always knew he was an idiot."
He stepped inside, blinking in the lights after being out in the dark night so long and then focused on Carys' guest.
"Nice to meet you too." he answered, offering a handshake.

Bringing the tea into the room, Carys sat down and smiled "So what brings you here, Matty? I haven't seem you in quite a while."

"Well...not since I began dating Matsuda, anyway."

Light shook his hand and smiled. He wasn't too sure what to say so he waited a bit to see if he could found out any interesting information.

Matt released Light's hand and pulled out a chair from the cluttered table, leaning back and propping his feet up as he sat.
"I was in the area, you know how I like to roam. And I just couldn't resist stopping to see you."

Light didn't want to interrupt their conversation but was curious. "So how long have you two known each other?"He asked, making note of any important information.

"Years," she giggled, looking at Matt with adoring eyes "I've known the bastard since I was a kid."

She then shrugged "He likes to drop in now and again, and he hates my ex Matsuda...but we always seem to find each other again."

Light smiled at her reply. He was learning more and more about his neighbor. Like where she is from and her friends but what he really wanted to know was if any of this somehow ties to L. She did seem rather suspicious about her story of being a travel agent but if he brought that up, it would only put suspicion on him. "I see...sounds like destiny to me."Light replied, giving off a laugh.

Carys shrugged "I don't know. He sleeps around like a common whore."

"So perhaps not so much destiny. more like we like each other way too much. My ex was such a sweetheart," she smirked "a bit stupid at times, but he was a sweetie, either way."

"You two must be awfully lucky. I mean, it's not very often someone finds someone and keeps running into them. Either it's destiny or one of you is stalking the other."Light said with a playful laugh. Glad Ryuk isn't here to see this...I'd never hear the end of it...Wonder where he's been lately anyway..no. That's not important now. What is important is that I find a common bond with her and keep it there. I'll earn her trust and become her friend. That way, even if she is an enemy, it would be much harder to eliminate me... on the other hand....it would be easy for me just to kill her.
Light continued to smile and play along.

"We ran away from our orphanage together when we were sixteen," she rolled her eyes "Then we parted ways after he cheated on me with several skanks. Then I met Matsu when I came over here, and for some reason Matt appeared."

She shrugged, before chuckling lightly "I don't know if it's destiny. I think he's stalking me."

Light chuckled. "I see. So, who's this Matsu guy you keep talking about? You seem to have mentioned him quite a bit."Light noted and asked curiously. "Besides, I can't say that I blame him, I mean, you are very beautiful and if i were him, I'd probably do the same, well, without the cheating that is. I'm not one to condone cheating."He said.

"Matsu? He was a cop I dated for a long time," she smiled before blushing at Light's comment "Wow...thanks, Light."

Matt, who had been toning out most of the talk about his past crimes busily with a hand held game, perked up and scowled at Light's comment, glaring at him across the table.
"Eyes off, preppy, she's claimed."

"I am?" Carys turned to the redhead, confused "Since when?"

Light disregarded Matt's comment as he thought to himself. A cop,huh? interesting..."So, about this Matsu guy, you say he was a cop that you dated for a long time. What happened?"He asked."If you don't mind, that is and call me old fashioned, but I hardly believe you are property to be claimed."

"He went on some case and we never saw each other. Broke my heart, to be honest," she shrugged "Matsuda Touta...the sweetest guy in the world."

"Unlike some people..."

"Since childhood, Car." he replied, tossing his game aside and glowering further in Light's direction after the comment he had made.
