He felt a little tinge of regret seeing her submit to his decision but it was for the best. He was not risking his right hand woman when she wasn't ready. Perhaps if she wasn't so emotionally connected there might be a chance, but maybe it was because of her gender. He never understood the opposing gender.

"It's for the best" he said in a softer tone.

She looked back up and forced a smile.
"Of course it is, that's why you're in charge." she knew it was the right choice to make, but that didn't make things any easier.

He got up and began to walk towards the monitor. He began clicking away and deleted her 'personal information' from the student transcripts and applications. Now there was no such person in school, or even alive.

"Glad you see it that way" he muttered.

She watched him delete her records, silent and resentful. It would take a lot of self-reminding that this was for the best, that was for certain.

He turned to face her and studied her posture. It was one of resentment, and he inwardly sighed, women were a nuisance and if she wasn't so smart he didn't know if he could deal with her.

She held his gaze, wishing that his range of feelings hadn't become so limited so she could really explain why she had tried so hard to be the one to go out and track Kira. However, that wasn't any good here, especially when he was so focused with the case.

He thought of her as a friend and he didn't really like that she was displeased with him. She was actually the closest person that he trusted other than Watari.

"Join me for lunch" he said with an air of indifference.

She tilted her head to the side, a bit surprised by his attempt at making amends, though not displeased.
"Of course." she responded, offering up a half smile.

He inwardly groaned and got up walking ahead of her towards the kitchen. He had already asked room service to bring his sweets and something less sugary for her.

"Eat" was what he said.

"Thanks." she muttered, accepting the food. She was rather pleased to see it was something normal, she could handle the sweets sometimes, but only in small portions and not often.

He nodded and ate his meal silently. He wondered when was it that this was normal for them......as normal as it could get. She was his only companion and vise versa it seemed. She was by far the only person other than Watari that knew him that well. He considered Watari his father figure....but he didn't know what he considered Soar as. That confused him since he typically tagged a person in a certain group.

It was only now that there was food in front of her that Soar realized just how hungry she was. She ate quietly, glancing at L every now and again and wondering when they'd last actually eaten together. They'd done so most every day during their younger years, but it was very rare now.

He was no longer interested in his food as he thought about all this. He didn't like confusing himself with categorizing everything to fit its place. She was a conundrum to him and he sometimes ignored it.

He lifted his head to see her, hiding his glance with his black hair. He noticed that she was eating quickly and hid a smirk. He noticed she was trying to be discrete glancing at him once in a while. He wondered what it was.

"What is it Soar?" he asked.

She paused, a little startled by the sudden break of the silence.
"Oh, nothing really, I was just thinking." she responded, moving some crumbs around her plate absentmindedly.

He nodded and shrugged. She was so quiet....how frustrating at how she was like himself. She was quiet and less antisocial than himself, but she was smart. Incredibly smart and she was his right hand person.

"Are you angry?" he asked.

"Not at all!" she assured him, looking back up. This was another of the things that saddened her sometimes - they no longer knew how the other was feeling.

He nodded and looked away, staring at the windows showing the skylines.

"I see...there is something wrong though" he muttered.

"I guess so." she sighed. She had known all along that it was probably pointless to just assume that he wouldn't figure out that she wasn't bothered eventually, it was what he did.

He looked at her frustrated and confused. She used to be so easy to read, she always held her emotions at her sleeve, which he had to force her to hide....it seemed that now she was too good at it that he could be fooled as well.

"Why not tell me?" he asked.

"I guess I could." she said, smiling softly. She hadn't thought he'd dig like this, but part of her was very happy that he was."
"I seem to find myself thinking more and more about when we were younger, before all this, lately." she explained. "It's just been bothering me a bit more is all."

He scrunched up her forehead confused. He could honestly say that he couldn't really remember when they were younger.

"I see" was his simple reply.

He looked up at her wondering if she would continue.

"And...well, that's it really." she concluded offhandedly, looking at her now empty plate. Perhaps he was expecting more, but there really wasn't any more to it.

He nodded somewhat confused.

"I see.....things have changed Soar, and whether good or not is another question entirely. It is up to you to see this of either getting better or worst."

He wasn't going to admit that now he saw her as is equal, when before he saw her as an amateur.

"Then I only hope that I make the choices that will make it better." she said, meaning it. She didn't know if she could handle things getting worse, it would destroy her emotionally.

He looked at her and only for a moment he saw her as the little girl that used to follow him when he was younger. He remembered how sensitive and delicate she was, she was a soft soul.

"Don't worry" he said
