Soar typed as quickly as she could without errors, documenting all the members of the police force that they would likely be in contact with in the future. She tried to memorize certain aspects about each person that might come in handy later on in the case, though none of them appeared to be suspects at the current time.

"Arigato Watari" L muttered "I shall contact you if we need any new contact with them, you've been of great help thank you"

He hung up and walked towards Soar who diligently worked. He stared at her as she worked and somehow let his mind wonder. How would it be with others around the pair, he was used to just relying on her. He frowned on the thought of intruders.

She paused in her work, noticing L's presence behind her.
"Everything go alright with Watari?" she questioned, glancing over her shoulder.

He nodded not even noticing that she was staring towards his direction.

"Yes...I thanked him for his services and sent him to rest as usual. It's not good for his health" he said. "How are you doing"

"I'm sure he's missing working on things like this." she sighed absently, "I'm doing well, I should be done within the next half hour."

He nodded thinking of how Watari felt without having the job.

"You're a great successor" he said with a twitch of his lips.

She colored slightly and cast her eyes down; L was not one to give compliments freely.
"Thank you."

He nodded and patted her shoulder.

"You're the best" he said. "And it's true"

She tugged at her hair nervously, damning her uncharacteristic pink cheeks.
"That's very kind." she murmured, wishing she could think up something to say in return.

He nodded and noticed slightly that her skin was becoming flush. He removed his hand and placed it in his messy hair.

"Maybe you should go to the doctor once you're done, you're awfully flush" he mumbled.

"I'm fine, honestly," she insisted, offering up a shaky little smile. "Just fine."
She brushed her palms across her cheeks, hoping that perhaps she'd cool them a bit.

He nodded confused and sat down beside her. He noticed how her flushed appearance disappeared down her shirt and wondered briefly how far it went. He shook his head at the thought and studied her.

"Then why are you flushed?" he asked.

"I - " she paused, trying to think of what to say. "Well, I guess I'm not really sure."
It wasn't a lie really, she wasn't certain exactly what she was feeling that made her blush.

He raised his brow and merely stared at her longer wondering if he could figure it out on his own.

"Really?" he whispered. "Or are you lying to me?"

"..." she said nothing, for she could think of nothing to say, and looked down at her hands, clasped in her lap.

He frowned slightly and now he had her answer.

" So you're lying" he whispered.

He looked at her directly and refused to look away.

"Well? You rarely lie to me"

"I'm so sorry, it's just... I don't know what to say." she answered, glancing up momentarily.
"But it really isn't important."

His eyes hardened at her comment. She flushes during their case and refuses to respond to his question to a point to even lie to him and she thinks it wasn't important?! He felt a slight bit of anger rising up in him but he calmed himself down.

"If it isn't important then why did you lie to me" he said with a hint of anger.

"It's foolish!" she exclaimed, her temper flaring briefly. She quieted almost in embarrassment; she was rarely ever angry.

He glared slightly at her outburst. He didn't know why he was getting angry but he had a hunch. He never liked not knowing everything, and the fact that she kept things from him angered him more than anything.

"Then tell me" he said. "I order you to tell me"

She hated herself at that moment for betraying emotions she'd tired so very hard to learn to conceal since her childhood at the orphanage.
"You order me? Alright, fine." she shoved the chair back as she stood up rapidly. "When my cheeks take color it's always because of you. Because of how I feel about you."
The words were rushed and garbled, and once she had finished speaking she strode over to the window, her skin hotter than it had been before.

He blinked as he took in the emotions that she was expressing. Emotions were not his thing, he never knew how to define them and it complicated everything, but as he looked up at her he knew that he needed to hear what she was saying.

"Me?" he asked softly.

He looked at her and refused to look away.

"And how do you feel about....me" he asked.

She stared out at the dark city, her reflection blinking angrily back at her in the window pane.
"It's all very difficult." she muttered.

He was getting angry and his usually pale skin began to color slightly in a pinkish shade around his ear. He stood up from the chair and placed his hands on her shoulder to force her to face him.

"I know difficult. Now tell me Sora" he said clearly and a hint of desperation.

She bit her bottom lip, wishing that she'd been born a better liar.
"This isn't easy for me; I'm no better with social dealings than you." she started.
"You see, ever since we were quite young, I've felt like - I mean I've -' she halted, looking very frustrated at the fact she couldn't think of what to say.
